2019 Notable in The Best American Essays

My essay "The Unflappable" was included as a notable essay in the 2019 Best American Essays. Oddly, but also somewhat appropriate to my late career, I also had an essay listed in small print at the end of the book in the "sorry we forgot to include this last year but we should have" section, retroactively including my essay "On Fighting" as a notable for 2018. Both essays were originally published in the Southwest Review.
